WHAT IS OON?

Oon Studio is a branding and design practice shaping brands through identity, packaging, and creative strategy. We uncover the center of gravity in every story and translate it into names, voices, and visuals— brands that feel connected, and alive in the world.

Oon literally translates to wool in the Hindi vernacular. A word our founder, Vydika Rao, first heard from her Nainamma (paternal grandmother), who, besides being a fierce knitter, was also among the first co-conspirators of little Vydika’s love language (visual storytelling). More than the word, it's the feeling of nostalgia it evokes- a deep emotional connection to her roots, warmth, and a sense of belonging. Oon serves as the language of creation for the purpose of human connection.

WHO IS OON?

With an uncanny ability to see the world through a kaleidoscope of nostalgic colours, unconventional shapes, and unexpected combinations, Vydika is a font-loving, insight-hungry, design-obsessed visual storyteller.

With over 17 years of experience in developing and building brands, she honed her craft as an Art Director at The Republic (a design studio based in Mumbai). A good job is one that’s going to allow you to expand your experiences and knowledge beyond what you’re doing now. So much of her development as a designer- her design ethics and ethos to managing peers and deadlines in high-pressure situations, was shaped here. It was a tough school of learning but one that has rewarded her for life as a designer and an individual. It taught her the importance of work-life balance.

From working on some of the best brands in the business, like Olive Bistro, Monkey Bar, Sodabottleopenerwala, Viari and Jean Claude Biguine with The Republic, working as an Art Director on the Telugu movie Nene Raju Nene Mantri, she’s also the hand behind creating some of the coolest artwork, title animations, and posters with the Writeous Studios on their OTT show Minus One to being featured alongside a collective of seasoned artists on Dabaki’s Art in Motion, which aired on the National Geographic Channel, before building her own studio.

With her innate ability to bring concepts to life, translating visions into stunning visual compositions, she leaves no pixel out of place, and no dad jokes out of line.

And, when she isn’t busy working on a ramen bowl, you can find her in her natural habitat scurrying between her precious pup, all things design, and crafting memories with those around her that are just as arresting as the visual realities she helps make for brands and businesses.

Muhammed Jaseem

Art Director & Visual Designer

Jaseem is our Art Director—someone who thinks in Malayalam, speaks in visuals, and occasionally mutters in CMYK. A self-taught creative from Kerala, he arrived with quiet confidence and a backpack full of questions. He claims to wrestle with colour, but what emerges is always unexpected and beautiful. His work feels more like storytelling than design—and his constant curiosity reminds us that every good idea begins with a good question.

Jyoti Prakash

ILLUSTRATOR + VISUAL DESIGNER

Jyothi is a clear favourite of our CEO—possibly because of a secret stash of treats only the two of them know about. He sees the world through an illustrated lens; to him, we’re all just walking, talking characters in a storyboard. That perspective might come from his deep love for animated films (a love that borders on obsession, honestly).

His energy and enthusiasm for the craft push us toward the results we’re always chasing.
